The 2025 Foresight Practitioner Conference (FPC) will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, on March 3rd and 4th, 2025. This small conference will bring together preeminent forecasting practitioners and business leaders in a single-room setting to network, learn, and explore emerging and cutting-edge aspects of forecasting. The conference will be hosted by the International Institute of Forecasters and Foresight: The International Journal of Applied Forecasting.

There will be approximately ten speakers discussing industry challenges and solutions in tech, pharma, government, consulting, retail, and others. The conference also includes the $10,000 IIF Practice Competition, where companies and organizations compete to demonstrate the largest impact by applying forecasting. Talks will be interspersed with breaks and round-table discussions to encourage networking and future collaborations.

Examples of speaker topics may include:

  • Using forecasting for equitable, efficient, and effective food distribution policies at food banks
  • 7 lessons learned from 7 years of AI based demand forecasting
  • Forecasting as a Core Strategic Competence
  • Forecasting Biotech Pipelines, Delivering for Patients, and Safeguarding Returns
  • Business strategies for successfully deploying forecasting models for clients
  • “When should you not build out an AI/ML forecasting team?”
  • “The costs of bad forecasts in large data sharing partnerships”
  • “Interesting retail patterns to be aware of when forecasting purchasing behavior”
  • “What does it mean for forecasts to generate money?”
