How did you become a forecaster?
My journey into forecasting science began during my postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Forecasting Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. As China’s premier research institution dedicated to forecasting science, the center provided an intellectually stimulating environment where I had the privilege of contributing to high-impact forecasting projects under the guidance of Professor Shouyang Wang. These projects spanned multiple domains including economic forecasting, commodity market forecasting, and foreign exchange forecasting, providing crucial decision-making support for Chinese government agencies. Another pivotal stage of my journey was my visit to Monash University, where I had the privilege of working with Professor Rob J. Hyndman and Professor George Athanasopoulos. This experience significantly inspired me to delve deeper into various aspects of forecasting, including forecast combination and advanced time series models, shaping my research interests and career path.

What areas of forecasting interest you?
I am particularly interested in ensemble forecasting, economic forecasting, energy demand forecasting, and commodity price forecasting, especially for crude oil, gold and Bulk agricultural products.

How has the International Symposium of Forecasting influenced you?
I am honored to serve as the Program Chair for ISF 2025. The International Symposium on Forecasting (ISF) has been an invaluable platform for bringing together leading researchers and practitioners from around the world to exchange ideas and advance the field of forecasting. I hope that hosting ISF 2025 in China will encourage more Chinese forecasting researchers to actively participate in the international forecasting community. Currently, we are preparing for ISF2025 in Beijing, and I look forward to meeting you all in June!

What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy staying active, especially through yoga and other forms of exercise. Yoga helps me relax and maintain both physical and mental well-being, providing a great balance to my research and professional activities.
