Dr. Feng Li born in Erdos, Inner Mongolia, China, joined the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University in 2024 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Statistics and Econometrics. Prior to this, he served as an Assistant Professor and later as an Associate Professor of Statistics at the Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing, China, where he also held the position of Associate Dean for the School of Statistics and Mathematics from 2016 to 2023. He earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from Stockholm University, Sweden, in 2013. Feng Li will be serving as the Local Chair for ISF 2025.
How did you become a forecaster?
My first project, undertaken as a PhD student at Stockholm University in Sweden, involved forecasting stock returns during the global financial crisis using Bayesian mixture models.
What areas of forecasting interest you?
Recently, I have become interested in large-scale time series forecasting using video time series data.
How has the International Journal of Forecasting influenced you?
The most significant influence has been my development of open-source software for time series analysis. My research focus has shifted from creating statistical methodologies to developing highly scalable algorithms and software to address real-world business challenges.
What do you do in your free time?
I enjoy the Swedish tradition of ‘fika,’ spending quality time with family and friends.
