Do you want to make a strong contribution to the science and practice of forecasting? If so, consider joining the editorial board of the International Journal of Forecasting as an Associate Editor.

The International Journal of Forecasting (IJF) is one of the leading journals covering all aspects of forecasting, from theory and methodology to high-impact applications. Since its inception in 1985, the journal has fostered innovation within the field and supported the dissemination of ideas that have made a strong impact on academic thinking and real-world practice. The IJF is owned by the International Institute of Forecasters (IIF), while it is published by Elsevier (sciencedirect.com/international-journal-of-forecasting).  We receive around 1200 submissions yearly, and publish 120-140 papers per year, in 4 quarterly issues. The journal is very well positioned within various journal rankings.

The IJF editorial board has 1 Editor-in-Chief, 6 Editors, and a large team of Associate Editors (52, currently). Associate Editors handle the review process, act as meta-reviewer, and formulate a recommendation to the Editor in charge of the paper. They are essential in providing the necessary critical assessment of the papers we handle, and in providing our prospective authors with constructive and valuable feedback on their work. Editorial board members proudly serve our forecasting community. They typically handle up to 10-12 papers a year, depending on their expertise area.

We are currently looking for new Associate Editors to join the editorial board for a term of 3 years, which can be renewed based on mutual agreement. We aim to recruit within all forecasting related areas, though with a special interest in

  • financial econometrics
  • actuarial sciences, demographics and population forecasting
  • AI/ML (methodological, computational, and application-related aspects)
  • credit scoring
  • business analytics
  • energy
  • political forecasting

Your application should include a CV and a cover letter describing your motivations and suitability to join the editorial board. The deadline for applications is on September 1, 2025. Applications (and any query you may have) should be sent to p.pinson@imperial.ac.uk.

I am looking forward to receiving your application!
