Workshop: Not an Imposter
Tuesday, March 8, 2022, 12:00 PM GMT
How many times did you feel that you may not deserve to be where you currently are? How many times have you thought ‘I might be just a lucky one’? It might be that an imposter syndrome is talking. Imposter syndrome affects many academics. It can be helpful at times but more often could make one feel unworthy, ultimately affecting their self-confidence. In this workshop, we will work together to identify what these two words mean for you, design strategies that can help us to tackle the horrible feeling and share our own experiences and advice.
Speaker
Dr. Anastasia Ushakova is a Lecturer in Biostatistics based in Lancaster Medical School. Anastasia is also on the leadership team of Lancaster Women Network, where the idea for this workshop was born. Anastasia is passionate about challenging how we perceive ‘self-worth’ in academia and excited to think about new ways to empower academics and, especially early career researchers, to feel confident in their abilities to succeed.
